Hi there!
My name is Dr. Ashley Anne. I'm a PhD-level trauma therapist, author, researcher, and founder of the Gravity Point® Institute.
I hold a PhD in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi, an MA in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University, and a BA in Communication from St. Norbert College.
I've completed advanced training in many different modalities, including a 2-year Marriage and Family Therapy fellowship, Dr. Dan Siegel's Mindsight® Immersive Training, and certifications in yoga, Reiki, and neurofeedback.
I created Gravity Point®, a new paradigm of prevention using stress resolution, based on my dissertation research. This paradigm, and the models and methods within it, is what I wish I would have had as a sick, sensitive, burnt out healer. You can learn this sacred work by reading the Gravity Point® Anthology here.

My Story
I grew up in a small town playing in farm fields, spending summer weekends on the lake, and surrounded by people who loved and supported me unconditionally.
Still, when I was six years old, I wrote in my journal, "I just want to die." I wasn't being dramatic. I was simply describing what I felt.
Everything hurt. My body ached, my mind was angry, and I felt overwhelmed by how stressed everyone around me seemed to be.Â
By fourth grade, I was sneaking Ibuprofen in the school bathroom for daily headaches. My digestion was a disaster. I wrestled with anxiety, depression, and chronic illness that no specialist could explain.
Disease and disorder were my reality for decades, and all along, I thought something was wrong with me because no doctor or drug seemed to help.
In my twenties, I became a professional helper in hopes that helping others heal might also help me.
Here's the irony: After training at one of the top counseling programs in the country, specializing in trauma, neurocounseling, and working as a therapist, professor, and program administrator surrounded by world-class experts, I was sicker than I'd ever been.
My psychologist and psychiatrist were trying to diagnose what appeared to be a severe psychiatric disorder. I had crushing lethargy, severe acne, relentless anxiety-depression swings, and everyone kept telling me: "Just take care of yourself."
I was already doing all the self-care: meditating, journaling, yoga, therapy twice a week, energy work, excellent boundaries. But I remained more burnt out than ever.
That's when I learned the hard way: self-care doesn't cut it.
The turning point came during a session with a client I'd been working with for nearly a year. They kept talking about anger, but my body, which I'd learned to use as a mirror, felt heavy, lethargic, completely shut down.
That wasn't anger. That was sadness.
So I cut them off completely and said: "I need to interrupt you. We've been talking about anger for months, but I think we're stuck because that's not what's actually happening. My body mirrors yours, and right now we both feel heavy and slow. I don't think you're angry. I think you're devastated."
Within minutes, they were crying and so was I.
Changing the story in their mind to match the true sensation in their body restored the connection in their system. The stress cycle finally completed. The next week, they came back ready to move on from what had been stuck for over a year.
That session changed everything. I realized: Fight, flight, and freeze weren't enough. Where was sadness? Where was celebration? Where was longing? And where was mirrored experienced in our model of stress?
Something clearly needed to change.
I spent the next 15 years building that map—cross-referencing interpersonal neurobiology research with what I observed in clinical practice. The result: 20 stress responses (gravity points) instead of 3, and a systematic method to resolve them.
Along the way, I discovered I was neurodivergent (QEEG brain scan during PhD work). Suddenly my "weirdness" made sense: the sensory overwhelm, the tendency to absorb everyone's dysregulation, the exhaustion after therapy sessions.
At first, I saw it as a liability. Eventually, I recognized the gift: If I can feel more, I can respond more. My sensitivity wasn't the problem—ignoring it was.
I had incredible experiences in higher education: PhD, professor, administrator, building an entire online counseling program from scratch. But I wanted to make this work accessible to everyone—not just people in therapy or research settings.
So I left academia and conventional mental health, spent three months living out of my SUV with my Frenchie, and began building an entirely new paradigm on the other side.
I spent over 20 years and all my financial resources building what didn't exist: a paradigm of prevention to mirror conventional medicine's paradigm of pathology. Built on four Research Roots (Interpersonal Neurobiology, Yoga, Quantum Physics, and Metaphysics), the Gravity Point® Paradigm helps you resolve stress before it manifests as disease, disorder, and discord.
Like any credible paradigm, it has four essential components:
- Gravity Point® Model: A framework revealing the 20 distinct stress responses that make up your complete stress system
- Gravity Point® Matrix: A situation-specific assessment tool that identifies which stress responses are overactive, underactive, or balanced in Triggering Situations
- Gravity Point® Map: Visual representation of your unique stress signature across all dimensions
- Gravity Point® Method: A system for resolving dysregulation using an algorithm that pairs situation-specific stress patterns to specific preventative practices
You can access this work through the Gravity Point® Anthology and through working with me directly.
At its heart, Gravity Point® is a formula for alchemy: transforming obstacles into opportunities, stress into a superpower, and trauma states into true states.
The Bottom Line:
I don't believe burnt-out helpers need more self-care. We need self-regulation—specific tools to complete the stress response cycle so unresolved stress doesn't manifest as disease, disorder, and discord.
I work exclusively with burnt-out helpers, healers, leaders and light workers who are ready to transform from overwhelmed and unable to support their sphere of influence to clear, calm, and confident in their purpose
I've been where you are: exhausted, sick, surrounded by wellness advice that doesn't work for sensitive systems. I know what it's like to be the helper who's forgotten how to help themselves.
And I know the way out because I'm living proof that if you heal your world, you will forever be more empowered to heal our world.
